Tally tracks early ballot returns by geography and voter profile, giving campaigns the insight to focus outreach where it will have the greatest impact before Election Day. Campaigns can monitor return rates by party, age, gender, and location to identify voters who haven't yet cast their ballots and remain persuadable. They can also compare real-time turnout to past election cycles to assess whether trends are holding steady or shifting, so teams can adjust messaging accordingly.

Tally delivers this level of insight across federal, state, and local elections, capturing the microtrends that drive outcomes. In 2024, we used Tally in Arizona to track Kirsten Engel's congressional race. A couple of weeks out from Election Day, we noticed statewide turnout was down 4.2 percent compared to 2020. Democratic turnout was down 8.3 percent, while Republican turnout held steady, an early signal that mobilization lagged among key Democratic constituencies. With the ability to filter data to include only ballot returns in AZ-06, we could look at youth turnout in Engel's district. Those findings showed us that re-engaging young voters was an opportunity to close the margin for Engel. With that data, the campaign shifted digital spending to Instagram and Snapchat, platforms where younger voters are most active, and tailored creative to emphasize early voting and ballot return deadlines.

By election week, statewide youth turnout climbed, but was still significantly below where it was in 2020. In AZ-06, the race came down to under three points. In a cycle where youth participation could swing key districts and every point counts, Tally gave campaigns the visibility to spot lagging engagement early. Tally allowed campaigns to know where to target their efforts and win races.
